Candidates for Board of Fire Commissioners | 2025

My name is Michael Reimers, and I am a candidate for the Killingworth Board of Fire Commissioners.
My wife Carol and I have lived in Killingworth for 19 years. During that time, we had the good fortune to receive the services of the Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company (KVFC). I say good fortune because in January of 2023 our property was hit by lightning and the KVFC responded to our alarm system which had been set off by the power surge. When they arrived despite our assurances that we were okay, and we thought our house was also the KVFCD walked through our entire home with meters to assess whether we had any unseen hot spots. In hindsight we really appreciated this diligence, assuring us that the house had been properly checked.
The KVFC is a very important part of our community, and we should appreciate and support their efforts. They are this community’s first responders, and their role extends beyond fire protection and prevention. Prior to coming to our house after the lightning strike they had been at the scene of a traffic accident to address emergency needs. I want to support their effort as a member of the Fire Commission.
I have worked in finance my entire career which spans over four decades. I have served as chief financial officer for two companies and am very familiar with budget planning and review. I have a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Business Administration, both from the University of Notre Dame.
It would be a privilege to serve on the Killingworth Board of Fire Commissioners.
