Carolyn Anderson

Candidate for Board of Assessment Appeals | 2019

My name is Carolyn Anderson and I hold a bachelor’s degree from the Boston College School of Management and an MBA from UCONN. Over the years I have held various positions in the health insurance industry. I have been responsible for leading teams, constructing and managing budgets, and managing contracts, all skills that will contribute to my being a strong asset on our town’s Board of Assessment Appeals.

I was a member of our town’s Board of Finance from 2013 – 2017 where I gained valuable experience working with our budget policies and procedures. In addition, for 12 years and counting, I have organized an annual Holiday Shopping Night for Hartford kids. This involves countless hours planning, soliciting, collecting, and distributing donations. I have always enlisted the support of others in the community to do the same, and coordinated my activities with other charitable organizations – sharing and exchanging donations – so that each organization can be successful.

A willingness and the skills to work with a team to achieve a common goal are a basic part of my approach to projects. That includes an empathy towards others’ viewpoints and an understanding of the importance of following regulations on a fair and consistent basis.

I have lived in Killingworth with my husband Steve for 22 years, and have two daughters (Lizzy and Cailey) who attended Haddam-Killingworth High School. I know first hand the needs of our residents and will work with other members of the board to arrive at fair and well-considered decisions. I feel that I will be a responsible and fair minded addition to the town’s Board of Assessment Appeals.
